Aviary
The Aviary is a zoological park in the Bintaro area of South Tangerang, on the island of Java, with a focus on birds and animal habitats. The grounds are divided into five zones, each representing a different environment: Rainforest, Swamp, Lake, Desert, and Savanna.
The Aviary was created as part of the development of the Bintaro Creative District in South Tangerang. It was designed from the start as a space for education about wildlife and natural environments, rather than a traditional zoo.
The name comes directly from the Latin word for a place where birds are kept, and it still fits: birds are the main focus here. Visitors can watch them move through spaces designed to look and feel like their natural surroundings.
The park is close to Pondok Ranji station and can be reached by public transport from central South Tangerang. Since the grounds cover five separate zones, it helps to wear comfortable shoes and give yourself enough time to walk through all of them.
Although the park is known for birds, each zone also houses other animals that match its habitat, such as reptiles and small mammals. Many visitors are surprised to find that the Savanna and Desert zones feel quite different from the tropical sections nearby.
