Algar Waterfalls, Natural waterfalls in Callosa d'en Sarrià, Spain
The Algar Waterfalls form a network of springs and cascades flowing through limestone formations, creating multiple natural pools along a 1.5-kilometer path.
The water system, named after the Arabic word for cave, served local communities since medieval times by irrigating orchards and supporting agriculture in the region.
The protected natural area connects to the region's agricultural heritage through its connection to Callosa's loquat production, which holds a Protected Designation of Origin.
The site maintains facilities including parking areas, restaurants, toilets, and first aid services, with admission prices ranging from 2 euros for children to 5 euros for adults.
The waterfalls source from an aquifer that collects rainwater from the Bèrnia and El Ferrer mountain ranges, supplying water to the Guadalest and Amadorio reservoirs.
