Blandy's Wine Lodge, Wine museum in Funchal, Portugal

Located within a series of Baroque buildings, Blandy's Wine Lodge contains extensive wine cellars showcasing traditional Madeira wine production methods and aging processes.

The location, formerly housing the Convent of São Francisco, transformed into a crucial wine establishment in 1913 when the Madeira Wine Association formed.

The lodge maintains Madeira's wine heritage through educational tours, demonstrating the aging processes of various grape varieties including Sercial, Malvasia, Verdelho, and Boal.

Tours operate Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 18:30, Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:00, and Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00, with advance bookings available online.

The lodge preserves centuries-old wine barrels and continues the traditional canteiro method, where wines mature naturally in specific temperature-controlled rooms.
