Baclayon Church, Catholic church in Baclayon, Philippines.

The building displays a cruciform design constructed from coral stones with a central altar featuring a representation of the Immaculate Conception and thick walls designed to withstand the tropical climate.

Construction began in 1717 under the direction of Jesuit priests, with native workers transporting coral stones from the sea and using egg whites as binding material to build the massive structure.

The structure has served as a spiritual center for the local community for over three centuries and houses a museum displaying religious artifacts and artworks from the 16th century within the former convent.

Located 6 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, the church welcomes visitors Monday through Saturday from 13:30 to 16:30 for tours and services. Jeepneys and taxis run regularly from the city center.

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake in 2013 severely damaged the structure, causing large sections of the facade to collapse and requiring four years of restoration work before the church could reopen in 2018.
