Geometrisk rev, Sculpture in Sentrum, Oslo, Norway
Geometrisk rev is a bright orange fox with angular facets standing on a grey concrete slab in the palace park. It faces right with pointed ears, a long tail to the left, and four straight legs resting on a black grid mat with grass growing through the openings.
The fox was unveiled in 2016 as one of the first two pieces in the new sculpture park, opened by Princess Ingrid Alexandra for the royal couple's 25th anniversary. The park has since grown to twelve works, with new sculptures added over several years.
The sculpture sits within Princess Ingrid Alexandra's Sculpture Park, a group of works made for and with children through a national drawing competition. Young visitors often run around the fox, treating it as a playful marker rather than a formal monument.
You can walk right up to the fox on the lawn, so wear shoes that handle grass and uneven ground. Early morning or late afternoon gives the best light on the orange facets and avoids the busiest stroller traffic.
Despite its simple silhouette, the fox is made from more than 170 flat pieces cut by laser, bent, and welded from a 3D model. Each piece was then ground, sandblasted, and lacquered by hand before assembly.
