Corneille Street

This colorful mosaic depicts a portrait of the French dramatist Pierre Corneille, crafted with small enamel pieces that create detailed facial features and elaborate period clothing on the street sign.

Created in July 2021 by street artist Mifamosa, this mosaic forms part of a series that began in 2020 when the artist started decorating various street signs throughout Avignon's historic center.

The artwork represents Pierre Corneille, one of the three great French classical tragedians alongside Racine and Molière, whose literary contributions shaped French theater during the 17th century and continue influencing dramatic arts today.

Located on Rue Corneille at coordinates 43.9496312, 4.8050016, visitors can easily find this artwork while exploring Avignon's city center, with the mosaic permanently installed on the street name plaque.

Unlike traditional street art, this handcrafted mosaic transforms a functional street sign into a miniature portrait gallery, using weather-resistant enamel pieces that will preserve the artwork for years to come.
