Mindūnai observation tower
The Mindūnai observation tower is a roughly 36-meter-high tower near Labanoras Regional Park shaped like a tree trunk. A spiral staircase with about 214 steps leads to a viewing platform offering panoramic views of lakes, forests, and islands.
The tower was built several decades ago to give visitors a better view of the park's natural surroundings. Since then, it has become a local landmark and is regularly maintained.
The name Mindūnai refers to the nearby village and the region known for its lakes and forests. Today, visitors experience the tower as a simple gathering point where people pause to observe the landscape and take photographs.
The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn when paths are dry and weather is stable. Parking, toilets, benches, and picnic areas are available near the tower, and entry is free.
The tower sways about 8 centimeters in strong winds thanks to its flexible metal construction. This movement is safe and normal for such structures, giving visitors a sense of being part of the surroundings.
