Vidiškės manor, dwór na Litwie
Vidiškės manor is a classicist manor house with numerous outbuildings located near Lake Varnis in Lithuania. The complex contains more than twenty structures from the 18th and 19th centuries, including the main residence with reception halls, a chapel, a mill, bathhouse, storage buildings, and various farm structures arranged around the grounds.
The manor was first mentioned in the late 1700s around 1782 when owned by N. Ragoža, who built a chapel with permission from the Vilnius Diocese. Ownership passed to Count Ludwig Pliater in 1807, who made significant changes to the property.
The manor is named Pšijazn, a Polish word meaning friendship, reflecting how much people valued community bonds in this place. Visitors can still sense this social spirit when walking through the preserved rooms and around the grounds.
The property is privately owned today and visits are only possible by prior arrangement with the owners. Contact in advance to arrange access to the manor rooms and grounds for your visit.
The manor suffered a devastating fire in 2006 that destroyed parts of the building and threatened years of restoration work. The owners undertook careful reconstruction afterward, preserving surviving frescoes and interior details to bring the property back to life.
