Werkraum Bregenzerwald
Werkraum Bregenzerwald is a craft center in Andelsbuch that houses workshops, exhibition spaces, and a restaurant together. The building features a sweeping wooden roof and glass facade that frames the surrounding landscape and blurs the boundary between interior and exterior.
The Werkraum opened in 2013 following a design by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. It was created to bring together regional craftspeople and showcase their work while connecting local craft heritage with contemporary architecture.
The Werkraum is a place where local craft traditions stay active through daily work by skilled artisans. Visitors see how craftspeople blend inherited techniques with contemporary design in their creations.
The Werkraum is open Tuesday through Saturday during the day and closed on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays. Guided tours run on Wednesdays at 11 am and Thursdays at 4 pm to help you explore the workshops and exhibitions.
Every three years the Handwerk+Form competition takes place, where designers and craftspeople collaborate to create functional objects. This event draws creative professionals from multiple countries and shows how traditional skills apply in contemporary contexts.
