Great Synagogue, Synagogue in Plzeň, Czech Republic
The Great Synagogue features two 45-meter towers, triple-nave layout, and decorative interior walls adorned with floral pattern paintings and organ from 1890.
Built between 1888 and 1892, the synagogue became a furniture storage facility during World War II, which prevented its destruction by Nazi forces.
The building currently serves as both a religious center and a concert venue, hosting numerous musical performances due to its excellent acoustic properties.
The synagogue welcomes visitors from Sunday to Thursday between 10:00 and 17:00, with guided tours including access to the rabbinical house and tower.
This religious building stands as the largest synagogue in the Czech Republic, the second largest in Europe after Budapest, and the fifth largest worldwide.
