Císařský kámen, Observation tower in Liberec, Czech Republic
Cisarsky Kamen is a steel observation tower on the summit of the same name in the Jizera Mountains near Liberec, sitting at an elevation of about 2,090 feet (637 m). The tower is about 66 feet (20 m) tall and has an open viewing platform at the top that looks out over the surrounding mountains and forests.
A wooden tower built here in 2009 was taken down after it fell into disrepair over the years. The current steel structure went up in autumn 2018 as a more durable replacement.
Information panels at the top help visitors identify the peaks and villages visible across the Jizera Mountains. Standing on the platform makes the surrounding landscape easier to read and enjoy.
The tower is open year-round and sits along a hiking trail in the Jizera Mountains. A seasonal refreshment stop with a children's area is located a short walk away toward Radlo, making the visit easy to combine with a longer outing.
The steel frame of the current tower is fitted with decorative wooden elements that echo regional building traditions, which is noticeable when you look closely at the structure. The new tower also stands about 10 feet (3 m) taller than the wooden one it replaced.
