Takur Ghar

Takur Ghar rises to an elevation of 3,191 meters in the Arma Mountains, marking the eastern border of the Shah-i-Kot Valley in southeastern Afghanistan.

The mountain became the site of intense military operations in March 2002 during Operation Anaconda, involving U.S. Special Operations Forces against al-Qaeda and Taliban forces.

Local residents refer to this peak by its Pashto name, which appears in regional maps and geographical documents of Afghanistan's eastern territories.

The mountain's steep terrain and high elevation require specialized equipment and experienced guides for any attempts to reach the summit during favorable weather conditions.

Three separate helicopter landings occurred on this mountain peak during a single military engagement, resulting in one of the most concentrated aerial operations in the region.
