Las Docas

Las Docas is a beach on the Pacific coast in Valparaíso with dark sand and strong waves that stretch along a curved bay backed by high cliffs. The shoreline offers consistent wave conditions year-round and slopes gradually toward deeper water.

The region was once home to the Bato culture, an ancient indigenous group whose archaeological remains have been found nearby. These early inhabitants left traces of their existence in the remains that are visible in the area today.

The name comes from old docks that once stood in this area, and locals use the beach regularly as a weekend gathering spot for families. The shoreline becomes lively when people come together to swim and cook food over fires.

Access requires a four-wheel drive vehicle due to unpaved roads, and visitors should bring their own water and food supplies. Weather protection is also wise since coastal conditions can change quickly.

The beach has no electricity or running water and maintains its natural state, making it completely removed from urban conveniences. This undeveloped character makes it a rare escape on an otherwise developed coastline.
