Ampay National Sanctuary, Sanctuary in Peru
Ampay National Sanctuary is a protected area located near Abancay in the region of Apurímac.
Established in 1987 to safeguard the unique Puna ecosystem.
The sanctuary takes its name from the Ampay mountain, which is central to the reserve.
It is the habitat for the rare intimpa tree, an endemic species to the Andean region.
