Convento de San Bernardo, Historical convent in central district, Salta, Argentina.

The colonial building features a wooden entrance door made from carob tree, hand-carved by indigenous artisans in 1762 with Salonic columns and double arches.

The structure dates back to the late 16th century, initially serving as Saint Bernard's hermitage and Saint Andrew's hospital before becoming a Carmelite convent in 1846.

The Discalced Carmelite nuns maintain a life of prayer, gardening, and cooking, with limited family contact through a small window that prevents visual interaction.

The convent holds masses Monday through Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30, with rosary prayers at 7:45, and Sunday services from 8:00 to 10:30.

The nuns produce and sell regional products at the reception area, maintaining a centuries-old tradition of monastic craftsmanship within the convent walls.
