Pico Paraná, Granite mountain in Serra do Ibitiraque, Brazil
Pico Paraná rises 1,877 meters above sea level, making it the highest elevation point in southern Brazil, featuring steep granite slopes and dense vegetation.
German explorer Reinhard Maack completed the first recorded climb of Pico Paraná in 1941, accompanied by Rudolf Stamm and Alfred Mysing during their expedition.
Local indigenous Tupi Guarani communities maintained deep connections to the Serra do Mar mountain range before European exploration of the region began.
The ascent to Pico Paraná requires a minimum of six hours through marked trails, starting from the base camp located 50 kilometers from Curitiba.
During winter months, temperatures at the summit can drop to minus 10 degrees Celsius, creating frost formations on the granite surfaces.
