Guanabara Palace is the seat of the state government of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Originally built as a residence for a wealthy trader's family in 1853, it became the Imperial Palace after being purchased by Emperor Pedro II.
The palace has been the scene of key political events, including the announcement of Brazil's republic in 1889.
It is not open to the public, but can be viewed from outside.
Despite its political function, the palace is known for its neoclassical style and beautiful gardens.
