Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, National park in Toamasina Province, Madagascar.
Andasibe-Mantadia is a protected rainforest area in Toamasina Province in eastern Madagascar, covering elevations from 800 to 1260 meters. The park consists of two connected sections that preserve different forest types and support diverse wildlife.
The site was created in 1989 by merging the existing Mantadia National Park with the Analamazoatra Reserve. This combination strengthened protection for the original rainforest and its inhabitants.
The park's name comes from the indri lemurs that live here, and their calls echo through the forest canopy. Visitors encounter these animals in their natural home and can see why local people hold them in such regard.
To visit the park, travel from Antananarivo using Route Nationale 2. A local guide is required for any exploration and will help ensure your safety while showing you around the area.
The park is home to eleven lemur species, including the indri, Madagascar's largest primate. These animals exist nowhere else on Earth and are central to the forest ecosystem.
