Black River Gorges National Park

The park extends across 6,754 hectares of mountain ranges, featuring dense forests, waterfalls, and numerous hiking trails through varied terrain.

The government established Black River Gorges National Park in 1994 by combining several nature reserves to protect native species and their habitats.

The protected area serves as a research center for scientific studies of Mauritian ecosystems and native wildlife populations.

Visitors can access the park through four entrance points and explore 60 kilometers of marked trails connecting two information centers.

The park houses 311 species of native plants and nine bird species that exist exclusively in Mauritius.
