Lubuk Bauk Mosque

Lubuk Bauk Mosque is a prayer house in Batipuah Baruah with a square footprint measuring 13 meters on each side and standing on wooden pillars with arched supports. The interior spans three floors connected by a spiral staircase, while the prayer hall features multiple windows and an eastern entrance aligned with the mihrab.

Construction began in 1896 and was completed in 1901, built on land donated by Datuk Bandaro Panjang to the community. This gift enabled the local population to establish a place of worship that endures to the present day.

The mosque displays typical Minangkabau cultural features with its distinctive roof style and intricately carved wooden details throughout. Visitors can notice regional craftsmanship traditions in the decorative elements found inside.

The building is easy to navigate, with the eastern entrance serving as a clear reference point and the spiral staircase providing a logical central route through all floors. Natural light enters through multiple windows on all levels, making the space feel open and accessible throughout your visit.

The octagonal minaret surprises visitors with decorative glass windows that cast light in unexpected patterns throughout the interior. A wooden spiral staircase winds through a central pillar and leads to an observation area that few visitors discover.
