Poso

Poso is an administrative region in Central Sulawesi characterized by hilly and mountainous land with several mountain ranges. The area is divided into villages and urban districts managed by local government structures.

The region was established as a separate administrative district in 1959. Over the following decades, portions of the territory separated to form new administrative units.

Multiple ethnic groups live here and practice different religions that shape daily life and local celebrations. You can sense this diversity in how communities gather and in the traditions that continue through the seasons.

The best time to visit is during the dry season when roads and pathways are more accessible. Plan extra time for exploration since the hilly terrain makes travel slower.

A lake within the region contains rare fish species found nowhere else that attract scientific study. This body of water makes the area ecologically important.
