St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Ipswich

St Mary's Church is a Catholic church building in Woodend, Ipswich, featuring twin spires and a rectangular nave built from Helidon sandstone on Elizabeth Street. The structure displays detailed Gothic Revival architecture throughout its interior and exterior.

Archbishop John Bede Polding laid the foundation stone in 1858, marking the start of the first church building designed by William Holloway Chambers. The present building was completed around 1904 and replaced the original structure.

The church bears the name of Mary and reflects the importance of the Catholic community that has gathered here since the mid-1800s. It remains a center for worship and religious celebrations for local residents today.

The building features a well-maintained organ built in 1915 that has been restored over the decades. Visitors should expect a quiet, religious setting and observe standard etiquette and silence during worship times.
