Australia Zoo is a 1,000-acre zoo located in the Australian state of Queensland on the Sunshine Coast near Beerwah/Glass House Mountains.
The zoo was opened by Bob and Lyn Irwin on June 3, 1970 under the name Beerwah Reptile Park.
It is known as the home of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, and continues to promote conservation through 'exciting education'.
The zoo offers various experiences including animal encounters, hand-feeding kangaroos and koalas, and live shows.
Australia Zoo was the first one in the world to have a hospital specifically for treating and rehabilitating wildlife.
