Heilman Villas, distrikt historik në Shtetet e Bashkuara
Welcome to Coronado, California! As a tourist guide, I am excited to show you around one of the most historic and charming areas in the state. Today, we will be exploring Heilman Villas, a unique and beautiful complex located at the corner of Seventh Street and Orange Avenue. Heilman Villas consists of 10 standalone bungalows and one 2-story duplex, all of which are prime examples of 1920s bungalow court architecture in the Mission Revival style. The duplex and six of the bungalows face a central courtyard that faces Orange Ave, while the other four bungalows face 7th St. Each bungalow is uniquely designed with Craftsman elements, including hardwood floors and leaded glass. Originally built for Robert and Lillian Heilman, the complex was later known as DeCoby Court and Hollander Court. In 1952, it became the Coromar Motel, and in 1973, the City of Coronado bought the site. It was used by community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Coronado Historical Association before being renamed Babcock Court in honor of City of Coronado founder Elisha S. Babcock. In 1992, Heilman Villas was placed on the National Register of Historic Places under reg. #92000319. This designation recognizes the importance of the complex as an example of early 20th-century architecture and design. While the original Heilman Villas no longer exist, the Coronado Police Department now occupies the site. However, visitors can still appreciate the beauty and history of the complex from the outside. Take a stroll down Seventh Street or Orange Avenue to see the stunning bungalows and duplex up close. If you're interested in staying in a similar historic motel during your visit to Coronado, there are several options available. The Glorietta Bay Inn, Hotel del Coronado, and El Cordova Hotel are all located nearby and offer a similar charm and style to Heilman Villas. Thank you for joining me on this tour of Heilman Villas. I hope you enjoyed learning about the history and architecture of this unique complex.
