Atlantic Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Colon, Panama
The Atlantic Bridge extends 2820 meters across the Panama Canal with two pylons reaching 212.5 meters in height and a main span of 530 meters.
Construction of the bridge started in January 2013 by Vinci Construction Grands Projets after winning the contract with a bid of 366 million dollars.
The bridge represents the third crossing point over the Panama Canal, connecting communities on both sides while maintaining maritime traffic through its 75-meter clearance.
The structure carries a dual two-lane roadway that enables vehicles to cross the Panama Canal independently of the Gatun locks operations.
Engineers implemented specific concrete formulations to withstand the tropical climate, using 175,000 cubic meters of concrete and 35,000 tons of steel reinforcement.
