The 22,000-hectare protected area contains diverse tropical forests, rivers, waterfalls, and numerous trails along the Panama Canal eastern bank.

The Las Cruces Trail within the park served as a major Spanish trade route in the 16th century for transporting gold across the isthmus.

Pipeline Road, extending 17.5 kilometers through the park, attracts researchers and naturalists who document over 525 bird species in this location.

Visitors can access the park via local buses from Albrook Transportation Terminal to Chilibre, with services stopping at the administrative center.

The park holds the global record for most bird species observed in 24 hours, with 357 different types recorded in a single day.
