History

The construction of the building started in 1981 under the name CM Tower, for Calcasieu Marine National Bank, and opened its doors in October 1983.

Culture

The City Club restaurant on the top floor served as a central location for community gatherings, business meetings, and Mardi Gras celebrations.

Practical

The structure sustained severe damage from Hurricane Laura in 2020, leading to its permanent closure and scheduled demolition on September 7, 2024.

The building featured specialized hurricane-resistant glass panels and required an estimated $150 million in repairs after the 2020 storm damage.
