Kaiser Richmond Field Hospital
Kaiser Richmond Field Hospital, WWII hospital in the United States
The Kaiser Richmond Field Hospital served as a major medical facility during World War II.
Opened in 1942, it was integral to the health care of shipyard workers who built Liberty ships.
It's a symbol of the home front effort and American industrial response to WWII.
Although no longer a hospital, the site can be visited for historical insight.
It was one of the first hospitals to provide prepaid healthcare services, leading to the creation of Kaiser Permanente.
