Amtshaus Hietzing

Amtshaus Hietzing is an administrative building in Vienna's Hietzing district, marked by a distinctive corner tower and asymmetrical facade blending Gothic and Renaissance elements. The structure spans multiple levels and features an arcade-style vestibule accessed by an elevated staircase.

The building was constructed from 1912 to 1913 on the site of a former tram company and opened for operations in 1914. Following severe bombing damage in February 1945, it underwent reconstruction and has continued serving as an administrative center.

The building reflects multiple architectural styles visible across its uneven facade. Inside, original features like ceramic wall coverings and wood paneling create spaces with lasting character.

The building sits along Hietzinger Kai and is accessible via public transport serving central Hietzing. The elevated entrance staircase and arcade structure make the entryway clear and easy to navigate.

The northeast corner features an impressive tower topped with an echauguette, a medieval defensive structure that stands out on this modern administrative building. This architectural detail merges medieval tradition with early twentieth-century functionality.
