Kolossi Castle, Medieval fortress in Kolossi, Cyprus
The square keep of Kolossi Castle rises 21 meters high with thick stone walls and contains three floors connected by a spiral staircase.
The Knights of the Order of St John constructed the original castle in 1210, while the current structure dates from 1454 under Louis de Magnac.
The castle grounds housed facilities for producing Commandaria wine and processing sugar cane, two significant agricultural products of medieval Cyprus.
Located 14 kilometers west of Limassol, the castle welcomes visitors daily from 8:30 to 19:30 with an entrance fee of 2.50 euros.
The castle walls display carved coats of arms from the Knights Hospitaller period, including those of Grand Commander Louis de Magnac.
