Executive Mansion

The Executive Mansion is an eight-story building located directly across from the Capitol Building on Capitol Hill and functions as both the workspace and residence for Liberia's president. The structure was designed to accommodate administrative operations as well as formal state functions.

Construction began in 1961 under President William Tubman and was completed in 1964, marking the start of a new governing era. The building has remained central to Liberia's governance structure since its completion.

The building serves as a setting for state visits, national celebrations, and official meetings between government leaders and foreign representatives. Diplomats and international guests gather here to conduct matters of state.

Visitors need advance permission through official channels, as the building maintains strict security protocols. It is best to contact the relevant authorities beforehand to understand the specific access requirements.

A major fire during Independence Day celebrations in 2006 caused significant damage to the structure. After reconstruction, it reopened in 2022, reflecting the resilience and renewal of the institution.
