Peč, Mountain peak at Austria-Italy-Slovenia tripoint in Karawanken range.
Peč is a mountain summit in the Karawanken range where three borders meet, standing at 1508 meters. Multiple marked trails approach the peak from different valleys and countries, passing through forested terrain and meadows.
The summit began marking the tripoint boundary in 1924. Stone monuments with inscriptions in Italian, German, and Slovenian commemorate this formal agreement between the three nations.
The annual Friendship Festival in September brings together local communities from all three nations to share traditional food and music at the summit.
Visitors can reach the summit from three different directions: via the Fusine area in Italy, by chairlift from Arnoldstein in Austria, or on foot from Kranjska Gora in Slovenia. The climb takes between one and three hours depending on which route you choose.
On clear days, visitors can see from the Julian Alps in the south to the High Tauern mountains in the north. This sweeping view reveals how three distinct alpine regions come together visually and geographically.
