Schmiding Zoo

Schmiding Zoo is a sprawling facility in Krenglbach with separate habitats designed to house gorillas, Siberian tigers, giraffes, and many other species. The grounds also include an evolution museum that traces life from prehistoric times through to modern technology.

The zoo was established to house animals in carefully designed environments that resemble their natural habitats. Over time, the facility has expanded and now integrates educational offerings like the evolution museum to complement the animal collections.

One of the main attractions is a large walk-through aviary where visitors can observe birds of prey with enormous wingspans at close range. This is one of the largest enclosures of its kind, allowing visitors encounters with these magnificent hunters that feel unusually intimate.
