Prater, Recreation area in Leopoldstadt, Austria
The Prater stretches between the Danube River and Danube Canal, featuring a permanent fairground, parks, Ernst Happel Stadium, and the Vienna Congress Center point.
Emperor Maximilian II transformed the area into a private hunting ground in 1560, before Joseph II opened it to the public in 1766.
The park has influenced Austrian literature, appearing in works by Stefan Zweig, Arthur Schnitzler, and Robert Musil throughout the nineteenth century point.
The entry to the park remains free of charge, with individual attractions costing between 3.50 and 15 euros from March to October point.
The Ferris wheel, built in 1897, lost half of its cabins during World War II bombardments, with only 15 of the 30 original cabins reinstalled point.
