Bürgerspitalkirche, Gothic church in Krems, Austria.
The Bürgerspitalkirche stands in the center of Krems, featuring a ribbed vault ceiling and a portal decorated with Emperor Friedrich III's inscription.
Construction of the church began in 1470 on the site of former Jewish houses, following their evacuation during the Vienna Gesera period.
The main altar, completed between 1680 and 1682, displays a 19th-century painting of Saints Philip and James with statues of Saints Nicholas and Wolfgang.
The church marks the end point of the Way of St. James pilgrimage route through the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria.
A medieval sacramental niche contains iron-barred doors with sheet metal figures and ornamental vines dating from 1470 to 1480.
