ErzbergRodeo, Motorcycle endurance race at Erzberg mine, Eisenerz, Austria
The ErzbergRodeo competition takes place on the steep slopes and rocky paths of Europe's largest iron ore open pit mine, creating natural racing obstacles.
Founded in 1995 by Karl Katoch, the event evolved from a local competition into a major championship that joined the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship in 2021.
The competition brings together 1,500 motorcycle riders from over 40 countries, fostering international connections through shared experiences on the challenging terrain.
The four-day event includes multiple race categories, with the Iron Road Prologue qualifying round selecting 500 riders for the main Red Bull Hare Scramble race.
Only about thirty riders out of 500 qualified participants complete the demanding 35-kilometer course within the four-hour time limit of the final race.
