Anton-Renk-Hütte, Mountain refuge in Tyrol, Austria.
The Anton-Renk-Hütte is a mountain hut located at 2,261 meters elevation on the Glockturmkamm ridge between the Ötztal and Kaunertal valleys. The modestly equipped building serves hikers as a resting point and shelter on Alpine routes.
The shelter was built in 1926 by the German Alpine Club of Aachen to support mountain hikers on demanding Tyrolean routes. This construction marked an important step in making this remote Alpine region more accessible.
The hut is self-managed by mountaineers themselves, reflecting Alpine traditions of independent mountain exploration. Visitors prepare their own meals here and share the space with other hikers.
A marked hiking trail leads from Ried im Oberinntal to the hut, with a cable car option to shorten the climb. Good hiking boots and weather-resistant clothing are important because the high elevation brings sudden weather changes.
A notable feature is the Renkfälle waterfall next to the hut, dropping about 150 meters. Nearby runs a via ferrata route with steel cables and rungs for technically experienced climbers.
