Edmund-Graf-Hütte, Alpine mountain refuge in Verwall Mountains, Austria.
Edmund-Graf-Hütte is a mountain refuge in the Verwall Mountains at approximately 2,375 meters (7,790 feet) elevation with sleeping accommodations for around 90 visitors. The building contains dormitory rooms, a kitchen, and a dining area serving hikers and climbers who stop here during their journeys.
The hut was built in 1884 and has served as shelter for climbers crossing between Paznauntal Valley and Stanzer Tal Valley ever since. For over a century it has remained a key stopping point on established alpine routes through the eastern mountains.
The mountain hut received the Environmental Quality Seal for Alpine Club Huts in 2003, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices in alpine environments.
Hikers reach this mountain refuge via a marked trail through Malfontal Valley starting from Pettneu and taking several hours to complete. A winter room in the building stays open year-round while the main facility operates from mid-June to mid-September.
The Hoher Riffler peak at 3,168 meters stands visible from the hut and creates a striking backdrop for the surrounding landscape. Its proximity makes this location a starting point for climbers attempting more demanding alpine routes.
