Leopoldskirche, Baroque parish church in Leopoldstadt, Austria
The Leopoldskirche features a prominent facade tower with a mansard roof and houses two 17th-century statues representing Saint Leopold and Saint Florian.
After the Jewish ghetto dissolution in 1670, Emperor Leopold I ordered the construction of this Catholic church to replace the New Synagogue.
The high altar, designed by Anton Ospel in 1725, displays an altarpiece celebrating Saint Leopold with additional side altars from the 17th century.
Located at Alexander-Poch-Platz 6 in Vienna's second district, this church maintains regular services under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna.
The church features a Latin inscription above its portal documenting the transformation from a synagogue, reflecting the historical changes in Leopoldstadt.
