Leopold-Figl-Warte, Protected observation tower on Tulbinger Kogel, Austria.
The Leopold-Figl-Warte is a concrete observation tower located on Tulbinger Kogel at 494 meters elevation. The structure was built in 1967 and offers expansive views from this elevated position across the surrounding landscape.
An original wooden tower stood here from 1897 but was dismantled during World War II by German forces. The current concrete structure was erected in 1967 to replace it.
The tower is named after Leopold Figl, an Austrian statesman from the post-war period. Visitors encounter a monument that remembers an important figure in Austrian history.
The walk from Berghotel Tulbingerkogel to the tower takes about ten minutes and follows marked hiking trails. Driving to the hotel reduces the walking distance and allows access to various surrounding paths.
The tower was designed by renowned architect Clemens Holzmeister, a creator of many significant Austrian buildings. On clear days, the views stretch from the Tullnerfeld region to the Weinviertel, showing the strategic location of this vantage point.
