The Renaissance castle complex features three wings surrounding a courtyard with double-story arcades connected by a covered outdoor staircase.
The castle's first documented mention as Bamberger Castle dates to 1270, though archaeological findings indicate construction began shortly after 1007.
The castle chapel, dedicated to Saints Henry and Cunigunde, serves the Old Catholic Church for religious services since its restoration in 1980.
The castle houses a museum exhibition room displaying archaeological discoveries, which visitors can access free of charge daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Archaeological excavations revealed rare artifacts including a 12th-century clay figure of a tournament rider, one of Europe's oldest such findings.
