Wasserschloss Gallspach, Heritage castle in Gallspach, Austria.

Wasserschloss Gallspach is a four-wing castle structure with two stories and covered walkways, featuring a round tower at one corner. The layout reflects the design typical of fortified residences from medieval and early modern periods.

The castle was first documented in 1120 and belonged to the Gallspacher family, who served as ministerials to the noble Schaunberg dynasty. This connection to one of the region's major noble houses shaped its significance over centuries.

Two bronze statues by Viennese sculptor Josef Riedl stand on the castle grounds, created in 1930 to honor Valentin Zeileis and his role in shaping the estate. They reflect how individual figures left their mark on the place over time.

The castle is located at Hauptplatz 1 and remains privately owned, though the exterior can be viewed from the public area. Visitors should note that interior access is not available, and the best views of the building and round tower are from the street level.

The castle maintains its original water-filled moat system and an additional pond, which sets it apart from other regional fortifications. This elaborate water system was once a practical defense mechanism and has been preserved through the centuries.
