The Renaissance castle extends along a forested hill, featuring three-story arcaded corridors and a characteristic Nepomuk fountain in the front courtyard.
First documented in 1246, Gundaker IV von Steyr constructed the initial stone fortress before 1236 as a ministerial of King Ottokar I Přemysl.
The castle museum, established in 1964, displays 60 detailed dioramas by Brigitte Zurucker-Burda showcasing historical living spaces at 1:12 scale.
The museum welcomes visitors from May through October, operating on Sundays and holidays between 14:00 and 16:00, with adult admission at 5 euros.
Napoleon Bonaparte spent one night at the castle in 1805 during his journey to the Battle of Austerlitz.
