Schloss Landeck

Schloss Landeck sits on a steep rocky hilltop above the Oberinntal valley, its stone walls and Gothic features rising dramatically from the landscape. The castle overlooks the surrounding terrain from its elevated position, creating a commanding presence in the valley below.

The castle was built in 1290 by the Counts of Tyrol as a seat of regional power and justice. After the late 1700s, it transitioned through different uses before eventually becoming a museum.

The castle is accessible on most days, and sturdy shoes are recommended since the walk up to the fortress is steep. You can reach the location by car easily, with parking available near the town.

During the winter season, the Gothic hall hosts a traditional mountain celebration with local customs and decorations. This seasonal event gives the old fortress a festive character that transforms its historic spaces.
