Schloss Kohfidisch

The three-wing castle features a central risalit with a pyramid roof and extends into an open eastern courtyard surrounded by rare old trees.

The Erdődy family acquired the estate in 1496 from the Counts Ellerbach and transformed the original farmhouse into a château during the 17th century.

The castle chapel contains multiple layers of paintings from the late 16th and mid-17th centuries, discovered during restoration work by the Federal Monuments Office.

The basement section now functions as a restaurant and event center, while the main wing's ceremonial hall hosts various celebrations and gatherings.

Between 1945 and 1949, the castle served as the Red Army command post for the Oberwart district before experiencing severe deterioration from construction material theft.
