Kollegiatstift Eisgarn

The Kollegiatstift features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and substantial stone walls characteristic of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in northern Austria.

Founded in 1330 by Johann von Klingenberg, the monastery received approval from the Bishop of Passau to establish a community of six canons with a provost.

The monastery maintains a concert series called Waldviertler Stiftskonzerte, continuing its centuries-old tradition of supporting musical performances and education.

The monastery houses one of the oldest elementary schools in Lower Austria, established during its early years as an educational institution.
