Kirche St Peter im Holz, Gothic parish church in Lendorf, Austria
Kirche St Peter im Holz is a Gothic parish church featuring a long nave with double-buttressed pilasters and a polygonal choir section. A bell tower with a pointed spire crowns the structure.
The earliest records of a church at this site date to 1060-1070 following the area's re-Christianization. The present building was constructed during the 14th century.
The interior walls display late Gothic paintings discovered in 1970, showing religious figures and apostolic symbols throughout the space. These murals remain visible to visitors walking through the church today.
The church is accessible during regular parish services held throughout the year. A cemetery adjoins the building, making it easy to explore both spaces during a visit.
The western entrance features a Gothic portal with a preserved 1430 fresco depicting the Virgin Mary with child alongside saints Catherine, Barbara, and Peter. This rare example of medieval wall painting on the exterior facade makes the entrance particularly noteworthy.
