Kulturlandschaft Paasdorf, Land art project in Mistelbach, Austria
Kulturlandschaft Paasdorf is an art project featuring several artistic installations distributed across the natural landscape, including sculptures, sound works, and environmental pieces. These works span different areas and create a connected experience throughout the region.
The project began in 1995 and has documented regional changes through artistic works ever since. One installation commemorates the loss of biodiversity, recording native cattle breeds from the period of 1880 to 1996.
The Sound Atoll creates an acoustic portrait of the region through solar-powered technology that generates sounds reflecting local environmental patterns. Visitors experience this auditory dimension as they walk, forming a new relationship with the land around them.
Visitors can explore the installations along a circular walking route that connects the artworks throughout the landscape. It helps to wear sturdy footwear and allow time for walking and observing at your own pace.
The Wind Cube House installation consists of two identical raw iron pieces showing different states, demonstrating how wind dynamics influence materials in the region. This work illustrates in a simple way how natural forces can alter objects over time.
