Anras-Gericht, Pfleghof, Medieval castle and museum in Anras, Austria.

The Anras-Gericht, Pfleghof is a castle with thick stone walls and a rectangular layout that rises above the village of Anras. The building displays architectural features from multiple construction periods, with additions and modifications that reveal the centuries of its use.

The castle was built in the 11th century as an administrative center for the Prince-Bishops of Brixen and served as a court and governmental seat until 1803. After that time, the building changed its function but remained an important place in the region.

The name 'Gericht' refers to its judicial function, which shaped how locals understood justice and authority in this valley for centuries. Visitors walking through its rooms can sense how this building was central to resolving disputes and making decisions that affected entire communities.

The building is accessible by paths and houses museum exhibitions that you can explore across several floors. There is also a café on the ground floor where visitors can rest and refresh themselves.

In 1989, the Messerschmitt Foundation acquired part of the building and carried out extensive renovations completed in 1997. This restoration gave the historic site a second life and transformed it into a venue for contemporary culture and events.
