Spieljochbahn, Mountain cable car in Fügen, Austria
The Spieljochbahn is a modern cable car that transports visitors from the valley to a height of 1858 meters. The route covers about 2 kilometers in comfortable cabins, making it accessible for all to reach the alpine area.
The original cable car began operating in 1973 and provided mountain enthusiasts with access to higher elevations. In 2017, manufacturer Leitner Ropeways replaced the older system with a modern installation.
The mountain station features a water play area with balance stones and rafts designed for children. This setup makes the location a popular destination for families looking to spend time outdoors together.
It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and weather-resistant clothing, as conditions at higher elevations can be cool and windy. The ascent and descent each take about 5 to 10 minutes, so visitors should plan time for activities at the top.
At the summit, there is a barefoot path where visitors can walk over different surfaces with bare feet. This trail offers an unusual experience that many visitors overlook but report as refreshing and soothing.
